Carol Weston

Carol Weston is an experienced performer and educator for young audiences. She has conducted music workshops for people working with children, has taught children in the classroom and performed widely throughout the greater Chicagoland area. She holds a B.A. in Elementary Education and an M.A. in Special Education. She is a long-time residency artist and touring show performer with Urban Gateways and has been a teacher at the Old Town School of Folk Music for many years. She has performed at such places as Taste of Chicago, Navy Pier, Great America, and suburban and Chicago Public Libraries. She has also performed for adults groups as a singer/pianist at the Carlton Club at the Ritz Carlton, Cité Restaurant atop Lake Point Tower, and the Drake Hotel. More recently she has been presenting cabaret shows with a 3-woman trio or on her own.

Weston believes that music is a reflection of a people’s experiences, history, joys, sorrows, struggles, and accomplishments. Learning and singing songs from folk and other traditions helps students understand one another and who we are as a country.
