May I Have This Dance?
What: Dance residency for students from several community schools
Where: Throughout the Chicagoland area
Students from different parts of the city met at Chavez School for a Ballroom Dance Competition after completing after-school residencies, coordinated by Urban Gateways, with dance artists from May I Have This Dance. The culminating evening competition drew parents, teachers and friends to Chavez School to watch and applaud the students as they showed their new abilities to waltz and whirl, move and glide. Learning these dance styles taught students grace and rhythm, freedom and exhilaration, and cooperation as well as competition.
