Going Green at Greeley – with a bright and art-filled community garden!
By Jamie Kostecki
Greeley Elementary 1st through 6th graders got their Green on during Sonja Henderson’s awesome residency in early July. The students channeled their green thumb by planting tomato seeds, tilling soil, and constructing trellises. Who says city kids can’t garden?! Watch out Florida and California, Chicago is the new up-and-coming tomato grower!
In addition to being friendly to our environment, the Greeley gardeners painted plant boxes with birds and butterflies (enough alliteration for you?). Check out the pictures here and you’ll have the warm fuzzies in no time!
