Kay Mabie has served on the Urban Gateways Board of Directors since 2009 and was on the Program Innovation and the Board Governance Committees. She is now an honorary member. With her husband, Jim, she is a constant advocate for arts and education, and has been a contributor to Urban Gateways since 1969. Kay is the Co-founder and Chair of the Chicago High School for the Arts, and she retired in 1997 after 30 years as the Director of Glenbrook Meals at Home. She has been a community volunteer with many organizations, including the Music Institute of Chicago, the National Guild of Community Education, The Women’s Association of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Goodman Theatre Women’s Board, among others. The Jim and Kay Mabie Performance Studio at Chicago Public Radio serves a wide variety of clients from the music, advertising, theater, and broadcasting industries.
