Lassandra is from the Southside of Chicago; she graduated from Chicago State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biological Sciences and Master in Science in Applied Physiology, and graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Public Health with a Master in Public Health. Early in childhood, she participated in art-infused programs that cultivated her skills naturally and artistically. Lassandra won first place in an “All Mixed Up” art competition and was awarded a one-year scholarship to develop her art skills. Throughout her career, Lassandra has learned about the values of incorporating art into the sciences. She has taught at numerous high schools, colleges and universities and her experience has always been to let students learn visually; she believes that art helps students think and be creative. Whether she’s taking trips to the science museum, international surgical science museum or the Art Museum, Lassandra is always finding ways to appreciate the wonders of art.
